The Gwinnett Woodworkers Association just shared a three-part video series that you may find very helpful. If you have interest in doing craft shows then you have much to learn. It can take years to become successful selling crafts.

It's always helpful to know someone who has already been successful. You can fast track your learning curve by hearing what they have done that worked and did not work.

Han Meier is a member of the GWA and has been a successful craft show seller for years. In this three-part series, he shares his years of experience.

Make Music Sculpture Scroll Saw Pattern.

This is just a small sculpture for the music makers out there. I have not been out in the shop for a few days because of my punctured eardrum. I felt good enough today so I wanted to cut something easy.

I always find it funny that my cutting quality declines if  I don't cut for a couple days. I struggled with this cut. I should have warmed up for a while before I started cutting a project. If I warm up for ten or fifteen minutes I have much better line quality. Getting in a hurry is always a bad decision.

This piece does not have a home so it does not matter but it's a good reminder that warm-up is important.

Here is a link to my warmup sheet if you would like to have it. I like to warm up with 1/4" thick Baltic birch plywood. It cuts easy and does not have a grain that can cause the blade to run off the line. Most of the time I just grab whatever scraps I can find in the trash can. Circles seem to give me the best warm up.

Update: My boring ear problems. Insurance rant. Skip if you like.

Several people emailed and ask how my ear specialist visit went this morning. I guess it went okay because we now know for sure that it is a punctured eardrum. After some vacuuming of the outer ear, he was able to see the tear.

That explains the intense pain from the ear drops. The liquid was getting past the eardrum into the middle ear which was very sensitive to the liquid and caused the pain. Now that we know that I cannot use the ear drops he used a cream.

That did not cause me any pain except in my wallet. He has to clean out and reapply the cream every three days. My copay for specialist visits is $50. I will have to pay that for each visit. I just don't know what we are coming to that out health care is so expensive. It's a shame. I pay almost $1,000 a month for my health insurance. That's just for me. For that price, I get to pay a $50 copay. Crazy. Rant over.

Apparently most ruptured eardrums will heal without intervention within a few weeks. At this point, the pain is not that bad but the pressure and ringing are pretty annoying. I guess the main thing at this point is to try to prevent infection.

Thanks again for all the well wishes.

Several months ago I started adding my daily patterns to my Pinterest page. It only goes back a couple years but I know many of you use Pinterest so I thought I would share the link with you.
The cool thing about the Pinterest page is that it will link back to the original post when you click on the picture. Can be helpful.
